Middle School

The San Saba Middle School Tennis Team played in the Mason Team Tennis Tournament on Saturday, April 9. Playing in the tournament were Mason, San Saba, Fredericksburg, Wall, San Angelo Glenn, and San Angelo Lone Star middle schools. This was one of the toughest middle school tournaments in the area. Playing in the tournament for San Saba were Libby Mays, Mary Jane Cantu, Perla Gil-Vega, Holly English, Marlane Rodriquez, Abigail Gonzales, Daisy Macias, Karen Correa, Daila DeWitt, Emerson Gage, Anna Rangel, Rayla Cuevas, Trace Temples, Rudolfo Valdez, Isaac Hernandez, Ryan Roberts, Kevin Aguilera, and Angel Reyes. Although we lost to Wall and Fredericksburg, our kids competed well. Highlights of the matches were Libby Mays and Trace Temples defeating Wall’s #1 Mixed Doubles Team 8 - 6. Against Fredericksburg, Trace Temples lost a very tough match to Fredericksburg #1 player 8 - 9

The Middle School will play a dual match against Llano on Tuesday, April 12, in Llano. On April 22-23, the middle school will play in the Mason Invitational Tournament. On April 30, we will host our San Saba Middle School Tournament. We will have eight teams coming: San Saba, Brownwood, two middle schools from Copperas Cove, Gatesville, Llano, Lohn, and Lometa. The Middle School District Tournament will be in Mason on May 3.

High School

The San Saba Varsity and Junior Varsity Tennis Team played in the District 29 - AA Tennis Tournament in Mason on April 4-5. The Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys both came in second place as a team behind District Champion Mason. In the Varsity Girls Singles

In the Varsity Girls Singles Division, Senior Dana Luna won third place and Freshman Olivia Sebastian came in fourth place. In Varsity Girls Doubles, Seniors Damaris Patino and Hanna Vines won third place, and Junior Delaney Ellis and Sophomore Minerva Vasquez came in fourth place. In Varsity Mixed Doubles, Senior Mia Kilman and Sophomore Justin Hernandez won third place. Sophomore Natalie Cuevas and Senior Timothy Williams were quarterfinalist. In Varsity Boys Division, Jacob Singleton won third place. In Varsity Boys Doubles, Sophomore Jose Aguilera and Freshman Christian Morales were quarterfinalist.

Coach Bourke and I would like to especially thank our four seniors, Mia Kilman, Dana Luna, Hannah Vines, and Timothy Williams for the hard work, and leadership they brought to the team these last four years.

In the Junior Varsity Division, the Girls team came in second place as a team. In Junior Varsity Girls Singles, Keely Pham came in fourth place. Jocelyn Cervantes, Evelyn Davila, and Olivia Lusty were quarterfinalist. In Girls Doubles, Karol Guerrero and Anna Millican won second place; Breck McCoury and Bailey Mask came in fourth place. Tanner Proffitt and Haleigh Ware, Esperanza Baiz and Jessica Nguyen were quarterfinalist.

We would like to remind everyone that the tennis association now has a website you can get on to find out summer tennis programs for juniors and adults and dates of tennis camps and summer tournaments for juniors and adults.
