The San Saba High School Tennis Team played in the Llano Varsity Tournament and JV Tournament on January 26 and 27. Teams playing in the Varsity Division were San Saba, Llano, Sonora, Brady and Burnet.
In the Varsity Girls Division, Natalie Cuevas and Minerva Vasquez won Second Place in Girls Doubles. Mia Kilman came in 4th place in Girls Singles. Delanie Ellis and Damaris Patino won consolation in Girls Doubles. In the Boys Division, Timothy Williams won 3rd Place in Boys Singles. Justin Hernandez and Christian Morales won Consolation in Boys Doubles. Coach David Bourke was proud of the way the players on both the Varsity and JV performed in the cold weather. This time of the year the tennis team has to deal with cold and windy weather.
The Junior Varsity Team played in the Llano JV Tournament on January 27. Teams playing in JV Tournament were San Saba, Llano, Sonora, Burnet, Fredericksburg, and Hutto.
Karol Guerrero and Evelyn Davila won 3rd Place in Girls Doubles. Tanner Proffit and Haleigh Ware came in 4th place in Girls Doubles. Keely Pham, Sara Wysong, Kalina Schaeffer each were quarterfinalist in Girls Singles. Jessica Nguyen was consolation quarterfinalist in Girls Singles.
As this article comes out, the Varsity Tennis Team will have played Copperas Cove on Monday, January 31. On Saturday, February 5, the Varsity Tennis Team will play Fredericksburg JV and Dublin Varsity in a Tri-Meet. The schedule will be the following: at 9:00 a.m. Fredericksburg JV will play San Saba; at 11:30 a.m. Fredericksburg JV will play Dublin Varsity; at 2:30 p.m. San Saba will play Dublin.
Hope everyone that can will come out and support the team; they will be playing at the old and new courts.
The next week, the JV will be playing in the Gatesville JV Tournament on February 8. The Varsity team will play in the Gatesville Varsity Tournament on February 11.
