Dress Like Your Teacher Day
Last week was teacher appreciation week, and the staff here at Cherokee ISD was truly spoiled!
The week started with “Supper on us” from our amazing PTC. A custom lemonade and a casserole to go were on the menu. Students were also tasked with writing notes to their teachers. They did not disappoint! On Tuesday, breakfast was provided by the Cherokee Baptist Church and an afternoon snack of candy and soda was donated by the Cherokee Church of Christ and the Children’s Home. In addition, students brought flowers to their teachers. Some were wildflowers, some were store bought, and some were handmade with paper. Each one was received with gratitude. On Wednesday, lunch was provided by the school board and students were challenged to bring a gift to their teacher. It could be a craft, a poem, anything! On Thursday, we were treated to Inman’s Pie, ice cream and soda provided by the Cherokee Methodist church. We were also given Amazon gift cards. The student challenge for the day was to dress like your teacher. We had a lot of fun with that one! Thank you to our students, their parents, PTC, and our community members for giving us a boost to get us through the end of the year. We are so blessed to work in a place that feels like family!
Some upcoming events to take note of are that on Thursday, May 15th, we will have the Rotary Banquet, and Prom will be on May 16th. On the 21st, there will be a senior breakfast and service project. May 22nd is the last day of school. There will be an early release at noon with the end of year awards at 6 p.m. in the new gym. Please note this is different than what we’ve done in the past in an effort to make it easier for parents to attend. Graduation will be on the 23rd at 7 p.m.
Next week, students, staff, parents, and community members are invited to attend our Economics Fair on May 19th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience where our students will see economics at work. The third, fourth, and fifth graders have been learning about expenses, profits, simple loans, professionalism, quality, effort, persuasive advertising techniques, and responsibility. They have been creating handmade products for you to purchase. We are excited for our little entrepreneurs!
