School is back in session for Cherokee ISD! Over the summer, we had two athletes compete in All-Star games. Chloe Berrio participated in the Brazos Bowl as well as the TSMCA All Star basketball game. According to Chloe, 'The East team and Coaches were so much fun.'
In football, Gunner Baugh was selected to play and scored a rushing touchdown for the Division 2 East All-Stars.
Coaches were Zack White from Cherokee, Alan Berrio previously from Cherokee and currently from Morgan, and Tyler Tabor and Derek Stephens from Zephyr. We are proud of our outgoing Seniors, Chloe and Gunner, and are excited that they got these opportunities.
Back in July, we also brought back our community Independence Day celebration, courtesy of our PTC. We had not been able to have it the last couple of years, but our little village banded together to make it happen this year. We had hot dog eating contests, water slides, homemade ice cream, corn hole tournaments, volleyball and more! A good time was had by all, and we are thankful for all the people who made it possible.
Last week, our teachers came back to work to prepare for their students, and then we had our annual Meet the Indians and Meet the Teacher to kick off the new year. We have a lot of young men participating in our football program, and we are looking forward to a successful and fun season.
