Here at Cherokee ISD, we are getting back in the swing of things after a week off. We are ready to power through the next three and a half weeks until Christmas Break. This time period is short, and even though the students can see the mid-point finish line, there is still much to be done. With midterm exams, projects, basketball games, parties, programs, and other activities, the next few weeks will be busy busy busy!

In sports news, our football season has sadly come to an end. Despite a big win over Loraine before the break to secure the area championship, the Indians weren’t able to prevail over the Richland Springs Coyotes for the regional championship. We are proud of their hard work this season and are looking forward to another great season next year! With football coming to a close, basketball season is getting ramped up. The high school basketball teams will play in the Lometa Tournament November 30-December 2. The girls will play Thursday at 9:00 World a.m. against Zephyr with the boys to follow. Good luck to our basketball teams!

Senior cheerleaders, Hailey Penney, Maycie Shanklin, and Chloe Berrio, as well as 8th grader, Taylor Randolph, participated in the All-American cheer events and marched in the parade held at Disney World over the Thanksgiving break. The girls earned this honor during their cheer camp held over the summer. Great job, ladies!

Some important dates of note are as follows: The academic UIL district meet for elementary (grades 2-4) will compete in Richland Springs on December 5th. Junior High (grades 5-8) will compete in Richland Springs on December 11th. Our Christmas program will be on December 19th at 6 p.m. Mark your calendars as this is always a fun night! We will have an early release at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20th, and no school on the 21st. We will return to school on Tuesday, January 9th.

Have a great week!
