Last week was a fun week here at Cherokee ISD! We kicked it off with our Science Fair. At the Science Fair, we had many very interesting projects and lots of parent support. Thank you to the parents for helping your student through this major project! Mandi Fry placed first with her experiment about toothpaste. She tested different kinds of toothpastes on eggs to figure out which one was most effective. Second place was Mason Palermo. He tested battery life using flashlights. Third place was Sara Barker. She tested which material would protect an egg best when dropped. Congrat-ulations to all the participants!
After the Science Fair was our first annual Color Fun Run sponsored by the PTC. Whether you walked, ran, worked a water station, threw color, or took photos, we are thankful for your participation! Thanks also to the Color Run committee: Regina Randolph, Cecilia Langston, and Kim Dobbs for your help in making this event a success.
On Thursday, May 18th, the San Saba County Rotary Club honored Cherokee scholars. Scholarship recipients were Joey Bond, Kora Berrio, and Kase Bordner. Kora Berrio also received the Rotary EMS Memorial Scholarship. Thursday was also field day for our elementary students. They traveled to Zephyr to compete and a fun time was had by all!
Cherokee’s prom was a hit this past Saturday with a theme of Peace, Love, Prom! Thanks to the staff, parents, students, and community members who helped out with prom. It is a special memory for our students and it is so appreciated!
This week we will have graduation at 8 p.m. It is our 100th commencement ceremony, so come out and enjoy!
