Last week, our Lady Indians began their playoffs journey. They won their first round against Evant, but lost against Huckaby, ending their season. Good job, ladies! Our boys played their last district game against Lometa and came out on top, ending the season with just one district loss. The Indians were district champions and will take on the Zephyr Bulldogs in Brownwood on February 20th.

Also, we would like to give a shout out to Rode Ligon for signing his letter of intent to play football at Sul Ross University.

We are proud of you, Rode!

Last week was Valentine’s Day week, and it was made especially sweet by our Pre-K, Kindergarden, and middle school GT classes. They visited the San Saba Nursing Home on Tuesday to deliver handcrafted Valentines for each resident. These cards were made by students as well as by the Women of the Word group from Cherokee Baptist Church. Our students also sang “You Are My Sunshine” to the residents. It was a great way to see various groups in the community come together for a common cause.

Thank you to these young people for their heartfelt gestures!

This week, students at Cherokee ISD across most grade levels are taking benchmark tests. These tests will better inform teachers on where their students' strengths and weaknesses are so they can improve in the appropriate areas.

Report cards will go home at the end of this week. Be on the lookout for those. Discuss the grades with your child and figure out ways they can grow.

Have a great week! See photos on page 1.
