District play for basketball has come to a close. Our varsity Lady Indians will play in the first round of the playoffs this Monday evening. Our varsity boys will play their last district game this week and will also advance to the playoffs. The junior high boys and girls played Lometa last week and both emerged victorious. It has been fun watching them grow this season.

In other news, Cherokee ISD is taking on a new project. With Mrs. New and Mrs. Padgett heading it up, we are in the process of getting a school garden going. Currently, we are asking the community to donate items to get the project started. Monetary donations for soil can be made to Cherokee ISD (attn: garden) and given to the office. There is also an Amazon wishlist located on our facebook page. You may purchase items directly from the list or view the list and purchase items locally. We have big plans for this garden. The garden will be cared for across all grade levels. Eventually, we would like to see the vegetables we grow be used in the culinary arts class and the flowers to be used in floral design. The sky's the limit! We are so excited to get this project started.

Track season will be starting soon so be prepared for some updates on that. Feel free to check our facebook page and/ or school website for specific dates and places.

Have a great week!
