Despite being a short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, it was still jam-packed with excitement here at Cherokee ISD. The week started out with the junior high basketball teams taking on Zephyr on Monday. Both the girls and the boys took tough losses, but the mood became cheerier after the games. The varsity girls played against the alumni and staff, and it was truly a fun event for all. The game ended in a tie which could not have been more perfect. The players enjoyed a fun evening of basketball while the spectators got some chuckles under their belts.

Our elementary students got in the holiday spirit prior to the break. Lower elementary put their “turkey in disguise” projects on display. The upper elementary students studied the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They learned about the history of the parade and the origins of the famous balloons courtesy of Tony Sarg. They watched a video about how the balloons are made. They also performed some experiments using different variables to inflate balloons. Then they made their own balloons and “paraded” them down a New York City street via green screen.

The week ended with our football boys taking on the Loraine Bulldogs in the state quarterfinals. It was an extremely tough game for both teams. They were playing in rough conditions as it was very cold and an absolute downpour for most of the game. In the end, the Bulldogs took the “W,” ending the Indians’ football season. We are so proud of these boys and how hard they have worked this year. Thank you to Coach White for your dedication to these kids!

Have a great week!
