With unexpected school cancellations, it has been an interesting few weeks here at Cherokee ISD. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy space for our students and are glad that so many are back and ready to power through until Spring Break when we will get another much needed break.

Although we were unable to attend UIL in Rochelle, we were able to submit our entries for the written competitions. In fourth grade ready writing, Holdin Boswell placed 1st, and Rein Hooten placed 2nd. In fifth grade ready writing, Ella Owen placed 2nd, Emily Penney placed 4th, and Marley Huron placed 5th. In 6th grade ready writing, Preslee Duggan placed 3rd, and Taylor Randolph placed 4th. In 7th grade ready writing, Robert Sawyer placed 4th, Franky Penney placed 5th, and Lawson Anderson placed 6th. In 8th grade ready writing, Tilar Turman placed 3rd. In 6th grade editorial writing, Taylor Randolph placed 2nd, and Preston Hanley placed 4th. In 7th grade editorial writing, Robert Sawyer placed 5th, and Lawson Anderson placed 6th. Congratulations to our young writers!

In basketball news, we had games every night last week to make up for our school closure. Our varsity boys went 1 and 3 for the week. Our junior high girls defeated Lometa with a score of 25-9.

Next week on the 9th at 4:30, we will have our monthly PTC meeting where an exciting opportunity for staff will be presented. We hope that our parents, staff, and community members will make an effort to attend.

We hope everyone has a fantastic week!
