It’s been another great week here at Cherokee ISD! Our varsity girls competed in Lometa to run cross country. Maycie Shanklin, Skylar Harris, Lauren Roberson, Payton Hanley, and Olivia Ziehr represented Cherokee High School and placed 2nd at the meet as a team. Hanley placed 5th while Roberson placed 10th. They received medals. For the varsity boys, James Beck medaled in 7th place. They will compete in San Saba this week.

Our football teams fared better this week as they took on the Gustine Tigers. Our junior high team was victorious with a score of 57-18. Varsity followed suit with another win. Gunner Baugh scored four touchdowns. Coach White commented, “Erick Miller played a big role on defense. Joel Valdez had two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. Rode Ligon, Kase Bordner, and Isaac Graves also had key roles.” The Indians ended the game with a final score of 66-18.

We are gearing up for our annual Fall Festival, so if there are any community members that are wanting to get involved, this is a great place to start. Contact Kari Owen (me!) at kowen@ cherokeeisd.net, and I will get you set up. Homecoming week is next

Homecoming week is next week, and we will celebrate with Spirit Week. Dress up days are as follows: Meme Monday-dress like your favorite meme, Tearful Tuesday-dress goth or emo, Way Back Wednesday-dress like your favorite decade, and Thread up Thursday-Color wars. For color wars, elementary will wear red, junior high will wear white, and high school will wear blue. Also, the floral design class is making mums. If you want to order one from them, place your order by September 28th. There are order forms on the Cherokee Activities facebook page as well as in the office.

Here’s to another fabulous week!
