This year is already flying by. I can’t believe that the first six weeks is almost over! In fact, it will end at the end of this week. Report cards will go out at the end of next week, so be on the lookout for those.

Our cross country runners started competing last week. For the junior high girls’ team, Tilar Turman led the Cherokee Indian pack with a 3rd place finish. Lily Graves finished in 5th place. Our high school girls placed 1st with Payton Hanley coming in 2nd place, Lauren Roberson in 6th, Sydnie Bond in 7th, Olivia Ziehr in 14th, Maycie Shanklin in 18th, and Skylar Harris in 24th. Matthew Gass placed 2nd, and James Beck placed 4th for the high school boys.

In the Ag department, Skyla Shannon represented Cherokee ISD at the Lone Star Classic in Gonzales. She had the Breed Champion Limousin Steer. Congratulations to Skyla!

Our junior high and high school football teams began their season this week. Junior High played Iredell, and varsity played the private school, Smoking for Jesus. Both teams ended up with losses, but we are looking ahead with hope. Our boys fight hard, and they WILL keep it up! They will take on Gustine this week. It will be a home game for junior high and an away game for high school. Come on out and cheer on our Indians this week!
