Cherokee ISD is back in action! We’ve been back to school since August 12th, and it is going great. The staff and students are working so hard to follow COVID guidelines so that we can keep everybody healthy and safe. We appreciate the efforts of everyone to keep us in school!

With a new school year comes new staff. We welcome Mr. Rick Panter, our new principal, as well as Laura Gratz, and Jenni and Michael Shipman. Alan Berrio isn’t new to the staff, but he is in a new position as a junior high teacher. We are thrilled about these new additions to our Cherokee family.

Labor Day is coming up on Monday, September 7th, and we will have that day off from school. However, this means we will attend school Friday, September 11th. Please take note of this as we do not typically have school on Fridays this year.

Football season has begun for the Cherokee Indians with a scrimmage against the larger team from Blanket. The varsity boys were all healthy, strong, and played well. We have a lot of participation this year with 15 boys playing for varsity and 15 boys playing in junior high. The first game is this Friday at home versus Buckholts at 7:30 p.m.

Please note that there are changes to the way we attend games. Due to UIL guidelines and procedures, we can only have 50% capacity at extracurricular events. To ensure that we maintain this count, fans and spectators must have a ticket to enter the game. Tickets will be available for the community every Wednesday in the office. Tickets will then be given to the gate keepers when paying the entry fee into the game or entering with a pass. Tickets will also be available for away games. We will have hand sanitizer available, and we ask that you practice social distancing when able. Please sit in family groups and skip rows.

We are so incredibly grateful to be back in school this year. We hope that everyone has an incredible year.
