Lady Dillo Basketball Report

Lady Dillos now 4-2 in District

Last week, the Lady Dillos split their final two games of the first round of district play and now sit in 3rd place with a 4-2 record. Mason is 6-0, followed by 2nd place Goldthwaite at 5-1, and Harper is 4th at 3-3. Johnson City is 5th at 2-4 but is much improved as they’ve played completive games with Mason, Goldthwaite and San Saba.

Last Tuesday, the San Saba girls stayed with state-ranked Goldthwaite for a half, as the score was tied at 16 at halftime.

The more experienced Lady Eagles found their shooting confidence in the 2nd half and were able to pull away for the win, 4531. Cinzlea Stanton led the Lady Dillo effort with 13 points and nine deflections, and Caroline McHam contributed 8 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Olivia Sebastain chipped in six points, and Macy Sebastain had four rebounds and three steals.

On Friday, the Lady Dillos were able to grind out a road win versus a scrappy Johnson City squad, 29-18. For San Saba, Stanton had 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals, and Chassidy Gonzales pitched in 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.

The San Saba girls had an open date on Tuesday and then travel to Center Point for a Varsity only game on Friday to start the 2nd round of district play. The Lady Dillos then host Harper the following Tuesday.
