The Lady Dillos picked up two more big District wins this past week against Mason and Goldthwaite. This moved the Lady Dillos to 18-0 overall and 7-0 in District play.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Dillos hosted the Cowgirls of Mason. It was another defensive battle and an exciting showdown between two good teams. The lead would change several times throughout the game. Mason led 15- 16 at half and held a 23-27 lead with 3:45 remaining in the game. However, the Lady Dillos would make some big defensive stops and hit some big free throws at the end of the game to eventually defeat Mason by a score of 30-31. I was really proud of our girls, and I felt like this type of game was one we needed to be in. Up to this point, we haven’t had many close games, so this was good for us to have to handle some late game situations and battle through some adversity. It wasn’t our best shooting night, but we always tell our girls to take pride in their defense because on a night when your offensive game is struggling, your defense will give you a chance to win. And sure enough, it did just that!

On Friday, the Lady Dillos hosted their long-time rival, the Lady Eagles, from across the river to start the second round of District. The Lady Dillos seized control of the game from the opening possession and would build a 19-0 lead before Goldthwaite was able to score. The Lady Dillos would continue playing great defense along with some strong rebounding and good ball movement on offense. The Lady Dillos defeated Goldthwaite by a final score of 52-23.

The Lady Dillos will be on the road on Tuesday versus Johnson City but then will return home to host Harper on Friday, January 22. The JV will get things started at 4:00 p.m., and the Varsity will follow at 6:30 p.m. Please come out and cheer on these amazing young ladies! Go Dillos!
