The Lady Dillos had another good week as they picked up two more wins over Brownwood and Eula. This moved their record to 10-0 as they prepare to start District play this week in Goldthwaite.
First up, The Lady Dillos hosted Brownwood. The Lady Lions have a big and physical team, and we knew we would have to match their physicality and be strong on the boards. The Lady Dillos would come out strong and take an early 12-4 lead in the first quarter. Brownwood hit a couple of big three’s right before half to cut the lead to 20-14. The depth of the Lady Dillos would come through in the end though as the Lady Dillos would put the Lady Lions away by a final score of 38-22.
On Friday night, the Lady Dillos traveled to Eula for their final preseason game. Eula has a very fundamental and well coached team. They don’t have a lot of size but they handle the ball well and can shoot from any range. However, the Lady Dillos full court pressure and depth would make it difficult for the Lady Pirates to get into any type of rhythm. The Lady Dillos size also caused trouble for Eula as they were able to hurt them on the boards and get some great position in the paint. The Lady Dillos defeated Eula by a score of 45-34.
I have been really proud of the way we have been playing as a team. We have a lot of talent at every position. But the girls have really bought into the idea of ‘strength in numbers,’ and it is fun to watch them be excited for their teammates and support one another on the floor. I feel like our depth will be an important factor as we head into District play.
By the time you are reading this, the Lady Dillos will have traveled to Goldthwaite to start District on Tuesday night. They will then host their second district game versus Johnson City on Friday, December 18. The JV Lady Dillos will get things started at 5:00 p.m., and the Varsity will follow at 6:15 p.m. Please come out and support these ladies as they begin their run for a District Championship!
