Taking an 8-0 lead in District 17, Richland Springs Lady Coyotes continue to show their dominance on the basketball court as they recently defeated Cherokee and Lohn during the second match up of District play.

On Tuesday, January 25th, the Lady Coyotes travelled to Cherokee to take on the Lady Indians. Gaining the lead quickly and relying on their aggressive defense to control the remainder of the game, the Lady Coyotes held Cherokee Lady Indians to 14 total points and captured the 45-14 win.

Leading the Lady Coyotes in scoring was Junior point guard Brynlii Chandler who dropped in 13 points. Closely behind Chandler, was Freshman guard Ryleigh Bryant who contributed 12 points to the Lady Coyotes victory. Other scorers included: Freshman Hailee Mack & Lili Appleton - 6 points; Freshman Raegan Wright 5 points; and Junior Nancy Valdez 3 points.

Getting to come back to their home court on January 29th, the Lady Coyotes sealed their 8th District win against Lohn Lady Eagles in the Coyote Gymnasium. Owning the court from the opening tip, the Richland Springs Lady Coyotes continue to show their versatility and depth as every member of the team contributed to the 72-2 win over the Lady Eagles.

With scoring coming from all over the court, Ryleigh Bryant dominated the court and led the Lady Coyotes offensively with 16 points. Not far behind and also showing her ability to score, Lili Appleton’s outside shooting added 13 points to the Lady Coyotes offense. Also contributing were: Raegan Wright – 11, Piper Moats – 10, Hailee Mack – 9, Nancy Valdez – 8, and Brynlii Chandler – 4.

With the recent win over Cherokee and Lohn, the Lady Coyotes are currently leading District 17 with an overall 8-0 record. The Lady Coyotes will finish up District play this week as they take on Rochelle Lady Hornets on February 2nd and Brookesmith Lady Mustangs on February 5th.
