Receipts totaled 4,531 head. The buyer activity was good on an overall lower market. The orders for cattle going to grass this spring and summer mostly ended last week. Most of the calves now will start going to grow yards and feed yards which all have a higher cost of gain due to the expense of feed and the big increase in corn prices. After last weeks strong market, the stocker steers and heifers were $10 lower. The feeder steers and heifers were $5-$10 lower with 7 steers 668 lbs at $145.00 ($968.60) and 3 steers 787 lbs $128.00 ($1,007.36). The fleshy new crop calves and bull calves sold $10-$15 lower. Packer cows and bulls sold steady. Pairs and bred cows sold steady to $100 higher in very good demand.
