This week is Fire Prevention Week. We had a visit from our Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department. They talked to us about the importance of having smoke detectors and an escape plan in our homes. Thank you to our VFD!
Last week, our junior high Indians football team played against Rochelle and came out on top with a final score of 6530. Varsity traveled a long way to Benjamin and did not have the same outcome. However, we know our boys give 100% effort every time. Here’s to next week!
October is college testing month for Cherokee High School students. Eighth and 9th graders will take the PSAT on the 13th. Seniors will take their SAT on the 15th. Tenth and 11th graders will take the PSAT NSMQT on the 22nd.
Our 3rd annual College and Career Day is coming up on November 20th. Cherokee ISD is seeking out businesses, industries, career professionals and training programs to share their experiences with our students. The object is to create an experience for students that will help expand ideas about future career possibilities. All grade level students at Cherokee ISD will be participating and high school students from additional nearby ISDs have been invited to attend as well. Please email CISD's Secondary Principal, Rebecca Sharkey, at rsharkey@cherokeeisd.net if interested in participating. Help us positively impact our future workforce.
Red Ribbon Week is coming up as well. This is a week where we focus on bullying prevention and drug awareness. To support their learning that week, we will have some dress up days. On Monday October 27th, it’s Career Day. The motto for the day is “Your Future is a Puzzle; Choose the Right Pieces.” Students are invited to dress up in clothing for a career or profession. Tuesday, October 28th, is Group Day. The motto is “Together we complete the puzzle.” Students will dress up with friends or their class a certain way. On Wednesday October 29th, it’s Crack the Code Day. The motto is “Solve the Puzzle of Life without Drugs.” Students can wear wacky hair or mismatched clothing. Thursday is Puzzle Power day. The motto is “Show Your Puzzle Power-no tricks, just smart choices.” Students can dress up like a superhero or in school spirit attire.
