The annual Richland Springs and Elm Grove rodeos are past, and conclusion of these two events historically signals the start of a new school year. Students reported for the first day of school last Friday, August 7th. Monday, August 10th was staff workday and a student holiday. Richland Springs students will have a four-day week this year, with school not in session on most Monday’s.

Football season will soon be upon us. Fans' seating will be arranged in order to social distance in the stands. Fans will need to wear masks at both home and away games. Seating will be limited (especially at away games), and only a limited number of visiting fans will be allowed to enter. At all away games, visitor side seating will be limited by the home team’s seating capacity. RSISD will need to issue our Coyote fans wanting to attend an away game a color-coded ticket that they must present to the gatekeeper in order to purchase a ticket and gain entry to the stadium. No one will be allowed to enter without a color-coded ticket from RSISD. RSISD staff will coordinate this new COVID related District 16-1A requirement. We are working with the other schools in our district so that we can be consistent and fair. We will get the information out to the public for ticket purchase, process, and availability as soon as possible.

All three school districts in San Saba County receive COVID case updates from Marsha Hardy, Emergency Management Coordinator for San Saba County. With each update to schools, Marsha Hardy includes this message: “Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!”

It takes community support for students to excel in their efforts to achieve. We have great students, teachers and staff. 2020-2021 looks to be a great year! It takes everyone working together to achieve success. We all need to hear kind words in these stressful times!

Community involvement is the key to success!
