Richland Springs ISD will host the UIL Academic District Meet at Richland Springs this Friday, March 26th. As a result, this Friday, March 26th, will be a student holiday and a staff workday. UIL academic sponsor, Pam Starr, would like to thank all students who compete at the district meet. This is a great opportunity for students to compete in academic completion with peers from other schools. Richland Springs students need to give a courteous welcome to area students to our school. Good manners, and ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’ opens many doors.

Track teams are working out and attending track meets. Golf teams under Coach Chad Ashworth are competing in area tournaments. Students are learning that golf is a game you will never master. Tennis teams are also hitting the courts. In a small school, many of the same students compete in multiple events and are shared among track, tennis, golf, one act play and UIL academic coaches. I admire the students who share of their time and talents with the many events. Come out and watch our students in action. Thanks to the parents who support their students who compete for the Richland Springs Coyotes in both sports and academics. We have many outstanding students who through hard work and dedication are capable of achieving any goal they desire. School pride is evident in all they do. Go Coyotes-Win State!

Competition in academics and athletics is learned in events such as the ones above. Senior students are competing for scholarships at colleges and universities. There will be competition for jobs after graduation. There has never been a more important or exciting time to be involved in public education. Preparing students for competition is as important as the competition itself. Those who work hard and prepare well for competition are usually the most successful. Hard work does pay off!

The first rounds of STAAR testing begins soon. April STAAR testing brings Grades 4 & 7 Writing, and English I and English II End of Course exams.

Attendance is important! Encourage your child to be at school every day. Please try to schedule doctor’s appointments after school if possible. Good attendance is so important to student success. If you desire a conference, please schedule a conference time with your child’s teacher. Parent involvement is important! Get involved in your child’s education.

If you see a teacher in public, tell them how much you appreciate their efforts. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.

Community involvement is the key to our success!

Friday, March 26th, is a Student Holiday and classes resume Tuesday, March 30th.
