Coyote Pride

The holiday break is in full swing. The first half of the school year is past, and 2021 is upon us. It’s time to reflect on the good things that have happened at RSISD so far. Faculty and staff are wearing many hats, and truly seem to enjoy being in the midst of their students. Students are involved in school activities and discipline referrals are low.

Girls’ athletic programs are excelling, and both junior high and high school basketball programs are experiencing success on the court. Boys’ athletic programs are excelling, and junior high basketball programs are experiencing success on the court.

Struggling students are receiving necessary tutorials in math, science, and reading as needed. Benchmark testing is ongoing and students are being prepared for success on state assessments. Our school is very diverse, and qualifying high school students are taking dual credit classes, receiving both high school and college credit for classes.

Shawn Dennis and agriculture students are preparing for future FFA competitions. The FFA and 4H agriculture programs are again encouraging and preparing many students for stock show participation. Richland Springs ISD also boasts a 100% graduation rate. Our library supports student learning and reading, and awards students who meet Accelerated Reading goals. School is a good place to be. Our small school is truly blessed.

Every day, teachers deal with kids from all realms of the spectrum, and we know that one state-mandated test does not determine their value to society. Teachers at Richland Springs try to help students figure out who they are, what their strengths are, and what their interests are. Because when students figure out what their strengths are and what their interests are, they can combine all that and figure out how to make the world a better place. As community members, parents and educators, we need to take those daily opportunities of contact with students more seriously and plant that seed, and maybe it’ll be one of those small things that’ll have a big impact for all of us some day. Student success and safety are first and foremost at Richland Springs.

The faculty and staff at Richland Springs wish everyone a safe and blessed Christmas holiday season and a Happy New Year! We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.

Community involvement is the key to our success!
