Cooler weather is upon us. Students and staff have settled into the four day week and classroom routines. Normal fall parent involvement meetings have been delayed. We acknowledge that parent support and involvement is crucial at both school and at home for student success. Together, we are the family, the foundation, the consistency, the harmony, and the encouragement. Children seek acceptance, belonging, caring and love. The first six-week grading period ends this Friday. Report cards will be mailed next week. If your child receives a notice of concern for either grades or attendance, please contact your child’s teacher as necessary to ensure your child is successful. Kids need structure and guidance to be successful. Today’s students are our hope for the future. Let’s work together to make their future bright!
Richland Springs is fortunate to be one of the smaller communities in Texas. We were one of the first schools in Texas to open our doors for face-to-face learning for our students on August 7th. Smaller schools with lower enrollment can more readily and safely manage the flow of students. COVID case updates from Marsha Hardy, Emergency Management Coordinator for San Saba County, reveal only six active cases in San Saba County. With each update to schools, Marsha Hardy includes this message: “Simply: wash your hands, wear your mask, pay attention to your surroundings and, mostly, be kind!” We are fortunate to be in Richland Springs!
Ag students are purchasing and feeding show animals. Mr. Dennis reminds students and parents that all swine, sheep, and goats must be purchased by October 1st. Ag students are also fabricating and welding, painting and installing decorative fencing around the high school. We are thankful for this on-the-job training that also beautifies our campus!
Due to the welcomed drenching rains last week, both the junior high and varsity football games were cancelled. This week, both the junior high and varsity teams, and resolute fans will take a long road trip to travel to Guthrie Com-mon School District on Thursday to play the Darrouzett Longhorns. Darrouzett ISD is near the Oklahoma border. Darrouzett is a town in Lipscomb County, Texas, with a population of 303, which is very similar in size to the City of Richland Springs.
Every day, we put our best foot forward, put a smile on our faces, and love these kids as best as we can, and hope that in some form or fashion, we will have a positive impact on these students to prepare them for the real challenges in life they will face upon graduation. Even though we started school on August 7th, it is hard to believe that this week is the end of the first six-week grading period. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
