Football season continues in full force here at Cherokee ISD. Our junior high football team opened with a big win over Richland Springs. The final score was 55-8. Our varsity game had a high attendance as our friendly county rivalry continued. The game was pretty back and forth for a while, but the Coyotes ran with the lead in the second half. Although our Indians fought hard, we did not come out on top. The game ended with a score of 76-52. Our Flag football team won their game 25-30, and they were very excited to secure their first victory! Their next game is Saturday in Brady vs Mason at 1 p.m.
Last week, our elementary students celebrated Thriving Thursday! This is a day in the fall and spring semester where we celebrate our students’hard work thus far. The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders had a fun-filled day! They watched Spookley the Square Pumpkin and then made their own Spookley snacks using graham crackers, orange icing, and candy to create the stem, eyes, and mouth. They ended the day by making their very own cowboy skeletons! So much creativity, laughter, and fall fun! What a great day! Third, 4th, and 5th graders were able to choose a few activities of relaxation: board games, directed drawings, karaoke, and coloring. Then they watched a movie in the afternoon and ended the day with a Bluebonnet book kickoff party where they watched book trailers and enjoyed blue slushies. The Bluebonnet book list is curated by librarians across the state of Texas. It is a list of 20 children’s books. Texan students in grades 3-6 are eligible to vote for their favorite one after they have read at least 5 of the books on the list. One book receives the award based off of the vote. We are excited to get started reading them!
Our PTC sponsored Fall Festival is coming up soon, so mark your calendars for Saturday, October 31st. We will have games, food, prizes, a costume contest, a silent auction, and trunk-or-treat. Please come and enjoy a fun evening and support our PTC!
