Track season reached a milestone as our athletes competed at district last week. For the JV boys, Alex Peterson placed 5th in the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, and the 400 meter dash. John Irvin placed 1st in the 100 meter dash, the 400 meter dash, and the long jump. Irvin also placed 4th in the 200 meter dash. Vince Ocnaschek placed 4th in the 100 meter dash, 2nd in the 200 meter dash, and 6th in the 400 meter dash. Michael Shreffler placed 6th in the shot put and 5th in the discus. The JV boys placed 2nd overall.
For the varsity boys, Weston Woolsey placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 3rd in the 800 meter run. Carlos Preciado placed 6th in the 200 meter dash. Preston Hanley placed 2nd in the same race. Ruben Morgan placed 4th in the 800, 4th in the 1600, and 3rd in the 3200. Jaxon White placed 1st in the 110 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles. Cayden Houston placed 2nd in the long jump and 1st in the high jump. Uriah Valdez placed 2nd in the shot put and 4th in the discus. Robert Sawyer placed 3rd in the pole vault. In the 4x100 meter relay, the team (Carlos Preciado, Preston Hanley, Robert Sawyer, and Weston Woolsey) placed 3rd. In the 4x200 meter relay, the team (Carlos Preciado, Jaxon White, Preston Hanley, and Robert Sawyer) placed 2nd. The varsity boys placed 3rd overall with Woolsey, Hanley, Morgan, White, Houston, Valdez, Sawyer, and the relay teams advancing to regionals.
For the varsity girls, Taylor Randolph placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash and 1st in pole vault. Theresa Turner placed 5th in the 800, 6th in the 1600, and 4th in the 3200. Morgan Palermo placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles, 5th in the long jump, and 2nd in the high jump. Tilar Turman placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles. Ella Graves placed 6th in the shot put. Hannah Sims placed 4th in discus. In the 4x100 meter relay, the team (Ella Graves, Hannah Sims, Summer Davis, and another Cherokee Lady Indian) placed 3rd. In the 4x200 meter relay, the team (Hannah Sims, Morgan Palermo, Taylor Randolph, and Tilar Turman) placed 1st. In the 4x400 meter relay, the team (Morgan Palermo, Preslee Duggan, Taylor Randolph, and Tilar Turman) placed 1st. The varsity girls placed 3rd overall with Randolph, Palermo, Turman, and the relay teams advancing to regionals.
