JV Dillos Defeat Coleman 14-8

It was a hard fought victory for the San Saba JV Dillos at Rogan Field last Thursday evening. The Dillos had several key players out most of the week with covid-like symptoms. Several players did not make their grades. We had to move some players around to new positions. Dillon Kraft started at center for the first time to ever play there. He did a great job. Coleman had a good football team. Their lack of discipline hurt them in the long run. They had several personal fouls and unsportsman like penalties.

San Saba received the opening kickoff. The Dillos ran three plays and punted. Coleman drove the ball to the San Saba 20 before good Dillo Defense stopped them. San Saba ran the ball to near midfield but fumbled.

The first quarter was scoreless. Coleman scored early in the second quarter, and the extra point try was good. 8-0 Bluecats. San Saba moved the ball after the kickoff but failed to score. Coleman led 8-0 at halftime. Good defense was played by Graden Lebow, Kaleb Roberts, Jason Everett, Preston Gray, Luke Thorpe, Jayden Romero, Jack Stewardson, Jose Vega, Omar Landeros, Danny English, and Jayden Aguirre.

San Saba kicked to Coleman to begin the third quarter. The Bluecats drove to the Dillo 10yard line before being stopped by the Dillo Defense. Luke Thorpe broke tackles en route to a 75yard run. Jason Everett ran for five, then two, Thorpe five, then 10. Everett ran in from the 10. Thorpe ran in the extra point try. 8-8 deadlock. The line blocked well on the drive. Lebow, Roberts, English, Stewardson, Carson Murphy, Jose Vega, Omar Landeros, Martin Macias and Preston Gray paved the way.

San Saba stopped the Bluecats after the kickoff. The fourth quarter found San Saba driving. Thorpe ran for 30 yards, Everett 25 to the Bluecat one. San Saba fumbled the next play. Coleman fumbled it back the next play. Luke Thorpe got the go ahead touchdown the next play. The P.A.T. failed. 14-8 Dillos to end the scoring. After the kickoff San Saba defense stopped Coleman and got the ball back. Jason Everett ran for two first downs, and the Dillos knelt the ball for victory.
