Raul (Paul) Cortinas

Paul passed away on March 7, 2024, without any friends or family members beside him. We do not know the date or place of his birth nor the names of his parents. We have no record of his accomplishments, his employment history, or his level of education. We could not find a single family photo of him. We do not even know if there will be a memorial service to commemorate his life. But we do know first-hand that Paul was a humble, honest, hardworking, compassionate, and sincerely loyal man who had the wisdom that could only come from a life of trials and challenges. Such a life is worthy of being honored, at least here in print. And those who cared for Paul in his last year of life deserve to be acknowledged and given our heartfelt appreciation.

We thank all the staff of San Saba Nursing and Rehabilitation for their truly compassionate and dedicated care for him and for giving him a quality of life he had never before experienced. We are also very grateful for Paul's good neighbor and friend, Mark Johnson, for his many visits to encourage Paul and for faithfully watching over Paul's home and beloved pets. Finally, we would like to express our great appreciation and praises for David Easlon and the members of the San Saba Church of Christ who hastened to minister to Paul and show him the Love and Grace of God. Because of them we have the comfort of knowing that Paul will receive the greatest honor a man can have – having his name written in The Book of Life.

Raul Paul Cortinas will be lovingly remembered by those whose lives were touched by his here on earth, and most importantly, by the Lord who sent him to us and is now taking him back.
