Over 200 high school students participated in this year’s Rise and Teach Education Conference hosted by the Region XV Education Service Center and partners Angelo State University and Howard College on January 26, 2023. Among those represented included 18 Region XV school districts, school sponsors, enthusiastic presenters in education, Angelo State University, Howard College and one of the most explosive speakers in Texas, Kate the Chemist (Dr. Kate Biberdorf). The conference’s initiative is tailored to support the next great Texas educators, in assisting students who are intent on becoming aspiring new teachers, by support transition to higher education through partnerships with Region XV Education Service Center, Angelo State University, Howard College, educator professionals and their local community.
The one-day event hosted at Angelo State University included breakout sessions, a campus tour of ASU and a closing session with the presentation of nine scholarships.
Students in grades 11-12 were provided the chance to apply for one Region XV scholarship for $500, and eight H-E-B scholarships for $500.
