Mrs. Grace Pollard and son of Melvin visited in San Saba.
Mrs. Ed Tittle is an additional clerk for the W. G. Kirkpatrick Grocery Store where she assists during the holiday trade.
Artie Kempf, who has been manager of the Palace Theater in San Saba, has been accepted for military service and will serve in the U. S. Navy.
J. R. Taylor, who first came to San Saba County in 1875, is moving back to his home place at Locker after having lived at Mercury in McColloch County for the past 33 years. Mr. Taylor is nearly 80 years of age and enjoys good health and says he wants to get back to San Saba County because he has never seen a man who has lived in this county any length of time who did not come back here eventually.
Sports, music and vocational agriculture are taking a jolt in the San Saba high school when the heads of the three departments will report for military service on the first of the new year, with veteran A. F. (Jock) Locklear, coach for 13 years; R. O. Oliver, band teacher; and E. L. Reese, vocational agriculture teacher, to be included in the early January call.
A former employee of the City Drug Store here, Pvt. C. B. (Red) Williams, Jr., son of Mrs. C. B. Williams and the late Mr. Williams, is stationed with the Air Corps in England, where he is a paratrooper. He has recently arrived in England.
Hitchcock and Chambers of the San Saba Bakery are making extensive improvements at their place of business on the west side of the square. New floor covering, repainting and a rearrangement of the sales counters have been made by the new operators of the bakery.

Richland Springs Basketballers traveled to Rochelle for a tournament. The Varsity Girls bought home the Champion shop trophy by beating Eden 36-28, Early 50-32, and Lohn 43-37. The Varsity Boys lost their opening game to Eden 65-57 but bounced back beating their own 'B' team 65-22 and took the Consolation Championship by dropping Brady 36-28.
Mrs. and Mrs. Ysidro Lara are the parents of Mercedes, seven pounds, four ounces, born Dec. 7 at San Saba Memorial Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Randolph were honored on their golden wedding anniversary in the home in Cherokee hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Chrane of Crane and Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis of New Orleans, La.
The first hardware in the form of risers for bleachers arrived for the new San Saba Rodeo Arena to be constructed at the San Saba City-County Airport. Efforts are being made by the San Saba Chamber of Commerce to have a new rodeo Arena For the 1974 season.
Five San Saba Seniors visited the campus of Texas A&M University. Participating were Hardy Stewardson, Buck Martin, Shelia Reeves, Pam Shanks and Nila Hill. The girls talked with the Dean of Women and the boys visited the animal science building.
Battery A of the 1st Cavalry Division's 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery form Fort Hood volunteered to fire 71 Salute rounds at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas as part of 'America Day' festivities. Army Private First Class Domingo Coronado, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernabe Coronado of San Saba, fired one shot from a 75MM Howitzer as each state was recognized during a stirring pageant depicting the history of our nation.
