Lady Dillos upset Boerne Geneva

On Friday night in Armadillo Arena, the Lady Dillos played great team defense and hit clutch free throws down the stretch to upset TAPPS 4A second-ranked Boerne Geneva, 41-36.

San Saba enjoyed a slight lead through most of the 2nd half, but a late run gave Geneva a 36-35 lead and the ball with less than a minute to play. San Saba forced a turnover as Geneva attempted to hold the ball, and then Lexy Amthor found Macy Sebastain open in the lane for the go-ahead bucket. On the next play, an Olivia Sebastain steal led to a clutch pair of free throws by freshman Chassidy Gonzales. Then, Gonzales made another steal, and Olivia Sebastain iced the win with two more free throws.

Last Tuesday, the San Saba girls traveled to Lingleville. Senior Lexy Amthor scored a career-high 30 points and the Lady Dillos used a 26-6 third quarter explosion to pull away for a 56-29 win. San Saba is now 7-4 on the season, with losses coming to state-ranked Flour Bluff, Marble Falls, Hamilton, and 6A Manor.

The Lady Dillos have a busy week coming up as they host highly-ranked Lipan on Tuesday and then travel to the Brady Tournament this weekend.
