This week was another great week for Cherokee football. Junior High and High School played on Friday night versus Sidney.
The junior high boys came out on top with a 21-6 victory.
The varsity team started the game out strong with a touchdown from Gunner Baugh. Baugh scored again with a touchdown pass from Joel Valdez. The PAT by Joey Bond was good. Matt Gass put some points on the board for the Indians as well with another PAT by Joey Bond. Valdez scored the next touchdown followed by the successful PAT by Rode Ligon. Valdez completed a touchdown pass to Cayden Houston with another PAT by Ligon. A touchdown pass from Tatum Shanklin to James Beck brought the first half to an end with the Indians up 44-0.
During halftime, our homecoming court wowed the crowd.
Freshman Duke and Duchess were Cayden Houston and Lillian Anderson. Sophomore Duke and Duchess were Joel Valdez and Payton Hanley. Junior Duke and Duchess were Trenton Conner and Hailey Penney. Football Beau was James Beck, and Football Sweetheart was Maycie Shanklin. Homecoming King was Rode Ligon, and Homecoming Queen was Skylar Harris.
After halftime, the Indians wrapped up the game pretty quickly with a final touchdown from Baugh. The final score was 50-0.
This Thursday evening is a big night at Cherokee ISD. From 5-6 p.m. is Open House. At 6 p.m., there will be a meal served as a junior class fundraiser. This will be followed by the junior high football game at 7 p.m. where the mini cheer camp participants will perform. Join us for a fun filled evening!
