Make plans to join Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site in celebrating the 114th anniversary of President Johnson’s birth. At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th, the National Park Service will host the annual wreath-laying ceremony at President Johnson’s gravesite in the Johnson Family Cemetery at the LBJ Ranch. To view the wreath-laying ceremony, visitors should stop first at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park to pick up a free vehicle permit and map. On the 27th, the State Park and Historic Site will feature old-fashioned games including marbles, tops, jacks, and stick-horse races at the Sauer-Beckmann living history farm from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The State Park and Historic Site will also offer a windmill program, “Wind and Water Works,” at Sauer-Beckmann living history farm from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
To allow for staffing of the event, the NPS Johnson City Visitor Center will open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022. The Hangar Visitor Center at the LBJ Ranch District will keep normal operating hours, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
