I thought I had forgotten the sound of falling rain, but my ears perked up as soon as that nice heavy rain came down. I’m not ashamed to say I sat on the front porch for the longest time until a wind shift left me and my chair wet. I pray we will get some of the heavy rains that are forecast for our area. A heavy rain may cause problems in the short haul, but it will benefit tanks and grasses in the long haul.
Several helpers were out of town, so Chrissy and I kept on cleaning the bank building. It’s almost ready for powerwashing and paint.
Thank you for all the suggestions tendered for the building rooms.
There’s not anything set in stone, but if you want input, come to the next Preservation Society meeting. I’m delighted that so many people are interested in the store front developments. If you are curious, look in the front windows to see a little of what is happening. Now that it’s almost all cleared out, the possibilities are endless. Come to the next meting with some suggestions or listen to the ones that have been put forward. Thank you once again to the movers and groovers who are pushing me to get things done.
I watched the Friday night scrimmage crouched under my umbrella. I enjoyed both events. Many people don’t like scrimmages because of the format, but it gives the coaches time to evaluate their players and shortcomings without the pressure of scoring points. According to the arm-chair coaches around me, the boys were looking good but needed to be more forceful about blocking and more diligent to stay with their man on pass attempts. They looked good to me, especially considering all the fresh players learning the system. We all know Coach Burkhart and the rest of our highly skilled coaches will get this team ready for some great football. Are you ready for some football?
I’ve talked to several of my ex-students, and they are all happy with our new teachers and anticipate having a super year. That makes my heart glad. I may have retired, but I can never disassociate myself from my kiddos. They have a piece of my heart in their possession, and I must go with my heart.
Russ and I are headed for Costa Rica, and by now, he and I are sitting on the front porch watching the monkeys and listening to the rain. Shane and Earnie will take loving care of us, and make sure Russ gets some delicious banana milk, but no pineapple milk. Johnny Reeves told me I couldn’t bring Russ home sick again. I totally agree.
It seems as if the prayer list gets longer every week. A group of men from the churches in Richland Springs and San Saba met Saturday morning for a prayer walk around the community. It was quite an extensive walk, but they renewed their strength with breakfast tacos.
Thank God for praying men. I missed the prayer walk around the school this year. I must have been in Alaska.
There are many prayer requests this week. The family of Sam McPherson, Mr. Boone, the Verettes, Alysha Ware, Kay McKee, Kathy Brockman, and a dozen others battling health issues. Weldon and his wife are doing better after being ill. Please hold your neighbors and church family up in prayer daily. Obviously, we need prayer for rain, for our country, and for world peace. Our border agents need help, as do our police officers and our government officials.
