Brittany Scribner, Nurse Practitioner, RN, BSN, specializes in Pulmonology and Sleep Disorders.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015 and Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2021 from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Scribner worked as Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse at United Regional Healthcare System in Wichita Falls prior to joining Hill Country Memorial.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Scribner is trained to order diagnostics, manage plans of care, prescribe medications, and manage chronic disease processes. She works with a designated physician, Dure Fernandez, MD, and sees practice at HCM Medical Clinics in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Boerne.
Scribner served as an ICU nurse for about six and a half years prior to going back to school. That experience of working closely alongside respiratory therapists while treating people who had chronic lung disease drew her attention to pulmonology.
“My philosophy is what can I do as a nurse practitioner to help people prevent getting to that critical state?” Scribner said. “What can we do to help manage and control their health versus going from being stable to a chronic disease state? As a nurse practitioner, I have the opportunity to promote disease prevention through education and to provide compassionate care to help patients feel in control of their health care.”
The Wichita Falls native is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Her husband, Ben Scribner, works as a Mine Manager. They are expecting their first child in August.
“We are very, very fortunate to have a facility like Hill Country Memorial with all the specialty doctors and resources we have for promoting patient's health,” she said. “I feel like they go above and beyond to really provide all the necessary resources that our patients and professionals need.”
