The 2022 Golden Armadillo Band entered their recordings from their UIL concert program from this past spring to compete in the Association of Texas Small School Bands Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor Band competitions.
Both competitions have held Region and Area listening rounds since school has let out for the summer. We are proud to announce that the band’s recordings of “The Red Cape” (a Spanish march) and “Japanese Pictures” have advanced to the State contest for OPS. We are also excited to announce that the bands full recording of the before mentioned pieces along with “Our Kingsland Spring” have advanced to the State contest for Honor Band.
This is the first time since 2018 for San Saba to advance to State in OPS, and this is the first time in school history for the band to make it to State in the
TMEA Honor Band competition. The State listening session for both contests will be held at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention on July 21st in San Antonio.
