SSGC chooses May's Yard of the Month

The home of Mrs. Francisca Esquivel and her son, Rigo at 1202 West Brown, was chosen this month as the Yard of the Month by the San Saba Garden Club.

Countless rose bushes, mostly surrounded by gladiolas and other flowers such as cannas, zinnias, abas as well as peach trees, fig and Rose of Sharon line the front and back of Mrs. Esquivel's home. She also has rosemary, wild garlic, apple mint, spearmint and some watermelon plants planted in the midst of her yard. Mrs. Esquivel has been working to get her yard to this point of beauty for five years. Her son provides her a new rose bush or blooming plant with each paycheck he receives. He told us that he wants to honor his mother and her love for gardening while she is still alive by gifting her with her favorite plants.

Please stop by and view the beauty of what five years of hard work and dedication looks like.
