The Bend News

Things are starting to look green around the Bend, slowly but surely! Allergies sure aren’t giving many of us a rest, but that goes hand in hand with living in such a beautiful place sometimes. There’s not an awful lot to report this week. I imagine people are still settling down from the Easter holiday and now preparing for Mother’s Day around the corner.

Lewvon and Raymond Hicks have been enjoying a visit from longtime family friend, Ava Risberg. Ava is a Deacon in the Lutheran Church and is visiting all the way from Lund, Sweden. The relationship that they share is neat to say the least; it began in 1980 when Ava was 15 years old, and came to live with the Hick’s family as a foreign exchange student. The two families over the years have taken several trips back and forth to/from Sweden and Bend to maintain their unique, loving bond. Tell me that doesn’t just make your heart thump! I just love stories like that.

Daniel Craig attended a car show this past weekend in Austin with his classic Studebaker. He had a great time and is looking forward to more car show events in the future.

A big Bend group carpooled into Cedar Park on Monday to attend a worship concert featuring Casting Crowns and We the Kingdom. Those in attendance were Anthony Henniger and Laura Beth Hicks, Nick Henniger and Kailey Kalata (Lampasas), Linda Clifton, Toni Mayben, Pete Henniger and myself, Skylar, Waylon, and River Harris and friends Hunter Wisdom (Cherokee, Texas) and Jeremiah Wakefield (Ponotoc, Texas).

There’s a friendly reminder that the Colony Memorial Cemetery Association will be having their 52nd Homecoming and Annual Meeting on April 30th! For those who would like to attend, please meet at the Colony Church and Cemetery. Bring your favorite dish, and be ready to enjoy lunch at noon!

Please keep Skylar Harris in your thoughts and prayers as she has knee surgery scheduled for May 2nd.

Until next week…

Yours truly,

Brandie from the Bend
