The Richland Springs Report

The city park was filled with laughing children and parents as a sea of eggs scattered around the park meant lots of Easter goodies in baskets. Many thanks to the adults who brought eggs and candy.

Resurrection Sunday is a day of celebration for the Christian community. It is the highest religious holiday since it is the promise of eternal life and redemption. Jesus paid the price once, and for all. Now it is up to us to try to live the life He modeled. The pagan customs that accompany this holiday continue to cling to this special day, but despite their sexual undertones, they continue to delight our innocent children. There will be a few high spirits around town based on the number of eggs I saw on the ground.

This week is a busy week at school. The tennis team, golf team, and One Act Play will all be competing for area awards. Thursday and Friday will be especially busy for these groups. We wish them all the absolute best. Wednesday is the Blood Drive at the school. Please call Tina Poe at the school to set up an appointment. My spot will be open because I am still on antibiotics. My fifth graders are working on a health fair, and it is time for fourth through sixth to work on science fair projects. Our annual STAAR tests are three short weeks away. I hope they are as valuable as the think tank folks believe because on the working level, they bring stress to the lives of millions of teachers and students.

I am back on my feet working at about 75 percent. I hope this week will bring that up to 100 percent. I’m tired of being tired. For those of you following school posts, we will add volleyball and softball to the sports teams next year. We like to keep our kids busy around here. The girls are looking forward to playing volleyball.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Taylor, Korenec and Brockman families. Phyllis Taylor continues to improve, Danny Phillips will undergo a procedure this week, my 26-year-old grandson Jason has suffered a stroke. I’m not sure how that happens to a young man who is careful about diets and life habits. Galen Guillory, Dallas Larreau, Earl Patrick, Susan Gossett, Weldon Ransbarger, and baby Tanner all need prayers for healing.

I cannot overstate the need for rain in our area. It seems all the rain is east of I35. Prices are out of sight for ranch and farm supplies. Our country needs prayer, Ukraine is in desperate need of help, our border is in crisis, and we need God. Please pray for our border agents, police officers, and most of all our precious troops and their families. God bless each of you.
