The Richland Springs Report

Congratulations to Jason Lewis and the group of community members who organized the Richland Springs Trade Days event. There were great deals offered by the 55 vendors who came to present their goods. The Preservation Association opened the variety store and invited everyone to fill a bag for five dollars. There will be one more attempt to reduce the inventory before they turn it over to another organization. So, as soon as I have a date, I will let you know to come and fill your bag with goodies for a dollar.

One Act Play under the direction of Mrs. Locker will be advancing to regionals. They placed first from all judges. Regionals will be April 21-22 in Waxahachie. We have students from tennis, golf, and track advancing as well. Although I don’t have the results from the UIL Academic meet, I know there are several students advancing in academics also. Our students are going to be busy. The hope will be that no events overlap others since many of our students participate in multiple events.

Plans are underway to introduce volleyball to our sports agenda. It will give our female athletes another option. Mr. Womack is promoting our district and encouraging new growth for our school district. He has very innovative ideas. He will be hiring at least five new teachers since that’s how many are retiring. If you are looking for a wonderful teaching environment, neat kids, and small classes, in a small town, see Mr. Womack.

I’m enjoying the extra hands around the homestead. Chrissy is outside mulching leaves for me. I’m preparing the area for the end of year teacher’s brunch. It’s not until the end of May, but I like to be ready. It will be especially poignant since I have resigned my teaching post. If I get bored at home, I’ll either sub or take another teaching position. I’m giving my food helpers an early notice. Each year, my picnic table is loaded with breakfast goodies for the teachers to enjoy. It’s a beautiful end to the school year.

The First Baptist Church collect over $4,700 for the fire relief. The church voted to match the donations, and a check for over $10,000 was sent for the fire relief. Thank you to members and community members for the outpouring of love.

Bernice Adams tells me she should be moving back into her house some time next week. It has been a long and frustrating process, but the end is near. She is such a giving person and deserves to rest in her own home each night. Little Tanner Lewis and Phyllis are both doing better. Prognosis for both was not good, but with prayer and God’s help, they are on the mend. Nelson Smith is recovering slowly from his stroke. Earl Patrick, Bob Brockman, Susan Gossett, and Ginger Skelton need continual prayers.

The Christian Church will host the Baccalaureate ceremony this May, promenade and graduation will be at the First Baptist Church, and Shiloh will host the Junior Senior Prom. It’s touching to see the churches reaching out to our students and planting seeds in their lives. This is a sweet community.

The people of Ukraine, our country, leadership, need prayers. We need a good deluge of rain. Please pray for our border crisis and a return to legal immigration, and safety for our border patrol officers.

Please, God, protect our police officers and most of all our precious troops and their families.
