San Saba Boys Varsity Powerlifting competes at State with awesome results

The San Saba High School boys varsity powerlifting team recently had four awesome student-athletes compete on Friday, March 25, at the 2022 THSPA Division 4 State Powerlifting Meet held at Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.

In the 308-pound division, Christian Ramirez continued his epic 2022 season by placing sixth in a very tough class as he lifted a whopping 1,540 total pounds with an eye-opening 700 on the squat, 335 on the bench press, and 505 on the deadlift.

In an extremely competitive 181-pound division, Zuri Herrera placed 12th and lifted 1,125 total pounds with 440 on the squat, 260 on the bench press, and 425 on the deadlift. Also placed in 12th in the 132-pound division was Winton Lackey as he lifted 830 total pounds with 345 on the squat, 185 on the bench press, and 300 on the deadlift.

Rounding out the field for the Dillos at the state meet was Justin Hernandez finishing 13th as he lifted 730 total pounds in the 123-pound division with 270 on the squat, 140 on the bench press, and 320 on the deadlift.

Congratulations to these four excellent student-athletes on a great 2022 season in powerlifting and best of luck going forward.
