Hello from Bend!
I don’t know if anyone noticed this last week…..but I think the authorities should be contacted.
Someone. Stole. Spring. How did we end up with summer temps suddenly? I know I might have been a little grumpy about the cold…but to just skip Spring?!? :-( That is no bueno.
The fishing in Bend has been GREAT the last week. Word is that loads of crappie have already come up river, yet there are still a ton of them gathering at the mouth of Lake Buchanan that haven’t made their way up yet. The white bass were a little stubborn during the previous couple weeks with the few chilly/windy days that we had, and then they picked right back up. I could be wrong in taking this guess…..but from talking to veteran fisherman, we might not have even seen the peak of the run yet!!! Now, don’t hold me to that if you come to Bend and get skunked. BUT, if you do catch some fishies, I’ll gladly come to the fish fry! Ha!
My household was happy this week. My mom, Linda Clifton, returned from a two week vacation to visit a friend in Kentucky. She said that it started snowing as soon as she got there. She had a great, relaxing, much needed break, but we are certainly glad she’s back home.
River Harris, age 10, is super excited to have made the Cherokee Junior High Cheerleading team. I can’t wait to watch her cheer at the football games next year. She has cheered since age five, but when you add “Junior High” in front of it…..my eyes start leaking liquid.
Christine and Jon Byrd are preparing for the Farmers Market in Lampasas. You can find them on ‘The Square’ in Lampasas with lots of jams, fudge, bread, cakes, pies, and more. They will be there each Saturday, starting April 1st, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Bend residents might get lucky from time to time - word has it that they might even set up in Bend at the edge of their property every now and then. If there’s one thing I know for sure….whatever the Byrd’s cook…there is no doubt that I will always LOVE it.
Michelle and Jeremiah Lock celebrated an anniversary on March 24th! Congratulations to them, and may they have many more years to celebrate together!
Lewvon Hicks had surgery last week to remove a nice size of skin cancer from her scalp. The doctor is confident that he got it all, and Lewvon is healing nicely. Praise the Lord! Please keep Lewvon in your thoughts and prayers. Oh, and by the way, Lewvon, if you are reading this…..Waylon said that you are ROCKING the haircut the doctor gave you!
Former Bend Methodist Church Pastor, Barbara Dyke, lost her father this last week. The Lord decided it was time for Phil Fruin, age 85, to come on home. While the family is saddened by their loss, they are pleased that Phil is no longer in pain and confident that they will again see him one day. The Bend Community is lifting Barbara and her family in our thoughts and prayers. Funeral arrangements are pending.
More to come next week….. please send me any and all Bend News you would like to share.
Be humble, count yer blessings, and pray for rain.
Yours Truly,
Brandie from the Bend
