Hello from Bend

I am very excited to announce that I will now be writing the Bend News each week. It will be tough to follow those who carried the writer’s torch before me, legends like Jo Price and Mildred Patterson, but it is an honor to say the least. I absolutely adore the Bend Community and am so grateful to be a part of it.

This week’s column is going to be more of an introductory piece as I ease into this new adventure. My name is Brandie Harris and I am a proud Bend resident and community member. I have been in the area for close to 20 years. You might remember me throughout the years from the KCYL morning show on 101.9 with Big Joe; or the 10 collective years that I assisted Bad Bob in running Bad Bob’s Bend Store, where my kids were ALWAYS with me behind the register. In 2018, I was blessed to join the Colorado Bend State Park team where I currently serve as a Park Ranger and Office Manager.

I am, first and foremost, the proud (and always tired) mom of three wonderful kids: Skylar (17), Waylon (16) and River (10). Being that there has not been a school in Bend in decades, my children attend Cherokee ISD (Go Indians!) - Another GREAT community, by the way.

Between all of the driving to school, the endless sporting events and practices, topped off with my full-time job, my life stays very busy!!! I was fortunate to have my mom, Linda Wilson, move in with me a few years ago. Speaking of, she has such a talent for writing that I plan on having her assist me with these weekly stories from time to time.

I have some really great ideas of what the future of the “Bend News” will look like, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for this opportunity.

Bend residents: Now that we all have (hopefully) thawed out from freezing temp, and are finished pretending that we live in Antarctica, I will be reaching out to each of you very soon for some information.

In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me with anything that you would like to share...news, alerts, questions, concerns, praises, a community idea, an upcoming event, favorite memory, best ‘ol remedy, or even a good ‘ol fashion joke.

Contact information: Brandie Harris or Linda Wilson- 325-628-3545. You can email me at <countrybrandie@ gmail.com>. Heck, you can just stop by my front porch for those of you who know where to find me….and for those that don’t, ya don’t have to look very far.
