Hamilton EMS is offering the “Stop the Bleed” course to groups and organizations in the San Saba and Mills County areas. The course is free of charge and takes less than one-hour to complete. Course scheduling will occur for groups or organizations that contact District Chief Wesley Alexander at the number listed below.

Hamilton EMS is offering this class free to the community because traumatic injury is the leading cause of death for people below the age of forty-six. Thirty-five percent of pre-hospital deaths are due to blood loss. Eighty percent of victims in mass casualty events are transported to the hospital by members of the public.

Death due to traumatic bleeding can occur in less than five minutes. Emergency response times are typically longer than five minutes.

Any organizations or groups that are interested in receiving "Stop the Bleed" training should contact District Chief Wesley Alexander at (254) 784-5753.
