The Richland Springs Report

Just two short weeks left in this hectic year. Things are beginning to get back to some form of normal. I have been rambling in my columns, so I will try to reduce the number of words for this coming year. I appreciate all the positive comments I receive from those of you who stop me and say thank you. I am amazed, but I appreciate your comments. It’s going to be difficult.

School is out; report cards will come out the week that we get back.

If you have some spare time, why not check the basketball schedule, and watch our kids play impressive basketball. Our elementary school closed the school year with an adorable Christmas program. Naturally, Mr. Dennis and Coach Burkhart stole the Twelve Days of Christmas number. I never realized they could put so much emotion into one little phrase. The top three PSAT scores for high school were awarded to Tyler Grant, top score, Jeremiah Beam top reading, and Connor Womack top math score.

First Baptist is going to have a caroling Wednesday for anyone in the community who wants to meet and sing. Please meet at the church at 5:30 p.m. After a little pizza, we’ll climb onto the wagon and visit our local shut-ins. I heard Shiloh had quite the gathering last week at the Martin residence to celebrate the season and someone’s birthday.

Christmas presents are being gathered at the Feedlot and the Fire station. If you have a need, please let the Feedlot or Mondo Garcia as soon as possible. I’m not sure about the distribution date. Obviously as close to Christmas day as possible. First Baptist will also have turkeys available in the food pantry. Please contact the Esmeralda or Franky Soto if you would like one.

My allotted words are about done. Please pray for our nation, our town, our government, and our President. Pray for our officers at the border, our police officers around the country. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families, especially those trapped in Afghanistan. Please God, send us a good rain, and take pity on our nation as the world works through these troubled times. Don’t forget to add a little cheer to the life of someone who has lost a loved one recently. Have a wonderful week.
