The San Saba High School varsity football team had quite a few players honored this weekend as selections to the 2A-1 District 4 All-District team.
Armadillos standout senior Wesley Lackey received the very high honor of 2021 Utility Player of the Year for his outstanding play on both offense and defense.
Offensively, San Saba senior Reagan Mejia and junior Tyler Johnson were chosen as first-team wide receivers, while senior Leonel Aranda and junior Christian Ramirez were both selected as first-team offensive linemen.
On defense, Aranda and senior Elias Bessent were named first-team defensive linemen, while senior Weston Oliver and junior Tegen Saiz were honored as first-team linebackers. Dillos senior Franco Franco was named a first-team defensive back, while Mejia was a firstteam kicker and punter.
Named second-team selections on offense were Saiz at running back, junior Lane Taylor at quarterback, Franco and senior Drake Bryant at wide receiver, as well as sophomore offensive lineman Jesus Gonzalez.
Second-team defense selections were Bryant and senior Adan Huron at defensive back, senior Cooper Moreno and junior Dylan Ware as defensive linemen, as well as junior Zuri Herrera and Ethan Gonzales at linebacker.
