Since we have moved to the Houston area, we have had a couple of opportunities to visit the NASA Space Center. When you look at the rockets (or replicas of them) it is an awesome thing to think about our universe. It makes me think even more about the Mastermind behind the creation of all things. All of God’s creation is awesome.
Genesis 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” There is no way I could ever believe that the world we live in just happened. Yet, many people today deny there was a mastermind, a creator behind all of this.
If I were to tell you I had left a screwdriver, some metal, plastic, and rubber, on a nightstand, and then when I woke up the next morning I had a brand new Fitbit, you would think I was crazy. You might shake your head and think, “Doug has finally lost it. There is no way those things could just have been laying there and make themselves into something without help.” And you would be right.
Anything that is built has a designer and a builder. You can’t just take a lot of materials, throw them around and then expect orderly fashion out of them. It just doesn’t happen. If you haven’t read the book of Job in a while, go there and read chapters 38-39. Job had everything taken away from him but remained faithful to God. In the last chapters of this book, the Almighty God asks Job questions:
Job. 38:4-7, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, 5 Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? 6 On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” God is just showing Job that He is the creator, and no one gave Him any advise or counsel. Our God did all of these things. We must have faith in God to believe all of these things are true.
Have you ever thought that if anyone may believe what is said about the Theory of Evolution, that is the faith they are going by. They may say it is based on science. This would mean that their faith is in science. We must believe in the One God who made heaven and earth and all that is within it. We must learn from the written Word what He did and what He expects of us. And we must believe that it is He who sustains us and gives us all we need. Psalm 3:5, “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.” David was aware that the Lord was the One who gave him all he needed. Do you?
