Students at San Saba Middle School celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 25th-29th.
Students joined other schools and students across the country to take a visible stand against bullying and drugs by participating in this year’s theme, Drug Free Looks Like Me.
On Monday, October 25th, students wore red and were “Ready to Be Drug Free.” They signed a large banner as their pledge to make healthy choices and live drug free. On Tuesday, students asked their friends, “I mustache you to give drugs and bullying the boot.” Students and staff wore colorful mustaches and wore their boots. Students wore crazy socks and crazy hair on Wednesday to show that they were “Wild About Being Drug and Bully Free.” On Thursday, students “Teamed Up Against Bullying and Drugs” and wore their favorite team’s jersey or shirt.
The week ended with students reminding each other that “Dillos are Drug and Bully Free!” The fifth and sixth graders wore their costumes for the annual Middle School Costume Parade, and the seventh and eighth graders wore their purple and gold to support the San Saba Armadillos.
Daily announcements, classroom discussions, campus posters and daily giveaways also contributed to efforts to educate and empower our students to make healthy choices. Daily giveaways included drug-free themed bracelets, mirrors, pins, tobacco-free stickers, tobaccofree bracelets, Red Ribbon Week themed stickers, colorful mustaches, and pencils.
San Saba Middle School encourages all students to continue to make healthy choices to ensure a brighter future.
