If you have driven through the San Saba Cemetery recently, you will have noticed the improvement to the roads. This was made possible by a generous donation by Richard F. (Sandy) Watkins and Helen T. Watkins of Austin, Texas, with the work being done by Baxter Sand & Gravel of San Saba. We are very appreciative of the Watkins’ generosity and thoughtfulness.
In the spirit of community effort to help beautify the San Saba Cemetery, we ask the public to abide by the following rules:
• Keep vehicles on roadways only. Do not drive or park on grass.
• Do not pick pecans. They belong to the San Saba Cemetery Association. The sale of the pecans helps with maintenance expenses. Contrary to popular belief, the cemetery is not, and has never been owned by the City of San Saba, and therefore, is not maintained by the City.
• No trees or shrubs can be planted. They create a problem when they become large because their roots pull up headstones, block roadways, and make maintenance difficult.
• No glass flower containers are allowed in the cemetery.
• No cans or bottles are allowed in the cemetery.
• You are responsible for removing old, faded flowers, torn or faded flags, broken benches, and other decorations from your lot. If you do not, we will have them removed. There is a trash receptacle at the northwest corner of the cemetery for such items.
• Do not litter. Please help keep trash picked up.
It is our hope and goal to make the San Saba Cemetery a beautiful place that everyone can be proud of. Please do your part to help.
Memorials and donations are greatly appreciated and will be used for the maintenance and improvements of the cemetery. They can be mailed to: San Saba Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 154, San Saba, TX 76877.
With thanks and appreciation from the San Saba Cemetery Association Board of Directors.
