San Saba Garden Club (SSGC) is delighted to announce the continuation of two categories of decorating awards for outdoor displays at San Saba: one for residences and another for businesses. Locals have expressed their enjoyment of the contest and their hope that it would be held again this year. In fact, the tradition has become a resounding success and an important contributor to this community’s many projects that Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB).
Everyone is encouraged to participate. The more displays, the more memorable our bustling town becomes to out-of-towners. And, of course, our gaily festooned yards and sidewalks keep one another’s spirits bright as we move toward the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.
There’s no application process for this contest, and there are no required props. Any fallthemed exhibit is eligible. The only requirement is to have your outdoor scene completed by Friday, November 12th. A panel of SSGC judges will make selections on Saturday November 13th, and winners will be notified soon after. Note: Residences are encouraged to have their house number visible for the convenience of the judges.
The fall decorating contest began when SSGC sold pumpkins as its primary fundraiser for charitable community projects. Although the club is not selling pumpkins this year, members unanimously agreed to continue the tradition and to provide the scrumptious prizes, which include homemade pumpkin and pecan goodies.
So let’s get our thinking caps on, our creative juices flowing, and our autumn decorations out of storage. Wouldn’t it be neat to be the best-decorated town in the hill country? Let’s do it!
