Pecan House Grill selected as 2021 finalist in Design category by Texas Downtown Association President’s Awards Program

Finalists for the 2021 President’s Awards Program were recently announced in Austin. For over 30 years, the awards program, sponsored by the Texas Downtown Association (TDA), has recognized outstanding projects, places, and people of Texas downtowns.

San Saba Economic Development Corporation (EDC) had the opportunity to nominate a downtown business, building, or project recognizing its excellence in design in downtown and commercial districts. Pecan House Grill was nominated by EDC to this category.

EDC recognized our nominee’s unique restoration and the impact it was bringing to our downtown during the short time since its opening. Meeting the project completion criteria for the award made our nominee the perfect candidate.

Our nominee’s revitalized “Industrial meets Historical” features make for a slightly upscale vibe drawing patrons, increasing tourism, and promoting economic development in San Saba. Following this further, EDC is thrilled to announce our nominee, Pecan House Grill, has been selected as a finalist in the Design category for the Best Downtown Business under 50K population.

One hundred and seven entries were submitted in 11 different categories from communities across the state. Design and achievement categories were judged by separate panels. The judges for design entries were: Kennedy Colombo, Jackson Galloway FGM Architects; Karen Dickson, Lower Colorado River Authority; Tim Hair, Dunaway Associates; and Martin Sanchez, The Sanchez Group.

Winners will be announced on November 4th at the President’s Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2021 Texas Downtown Conference scheduled for November 3-5 in Denton.
